The Council kept a word secret from other people which the Council named the Forbidden Word. While escaping the wrath of the Council of Scholars, and after showing them Equality invention and being rejected, Equality flees deep into the uncharted Forest (Compound-Complex). He left his adversaries wondering where he went. Along the way, Equality finds a stream nearby (Complex). “We knelt by the stream and we bent down to drink. And then we stopped. For, upon the blue of the sky below us, we saw our own face for the first time. ” (27).
At that moment, Equality realizes that he now knows the feeling of being free, and then he looks down at the water and sees his face for the first time (Compound-Complex). He is astonished by what he sees and admires himself. Then, from the shadows of the forest, comes Liberty. Bribery had heard that Equality had fled into the Uncharted Forest and decided to follow him (Compound). They both travel deeper into the forest until they stumble upon what would be Equalities biggest realization moment. Equality and Liberty find a house fit for 12 men.
They explore the amazing souse they just discovered and decide to make it their home. While looking around, Equality came across a book. He chose to read the old book that came from the Unmentionable Times. He comes to a conclusion that the Forbidden word must be “l”. He goes to Liberty and explains to her his findings. They both rejoice in the new word they’ve just discovered. Equality renames himself Prometheus after the mythological man who founded light in a dark world. He came to understand about himself that the only time he was ever a real person was when he was involved in his sins and remigrations.
In order to describe the action and nature of men, Prometheus created his own word which he called EGO. “And here, over the portals of my fort, shall cut in the stone the word which is to be my beacon and my banner. The word which will not die, should we all perish in battle. The word which can never die on this earth, for it is the heart of it and the meaning and the glory. The sacred word: EGO. “(46) At the end of Anthem, Prometheus thinks back on his life and analyzes it. He becomes aware that he has always felt restrained and trapped and somewhat erased by these laws and boundaries..
