The job market IS getting stronger, so when they obtain the best in American jobs they look for certain elements. I will be looking at the employee motivation and cohesion among employees in the top company, Google, the middle company, Facts Research Systems, and the last company, Cooley on the list. I will look to see if there is any difference because of the popularity of the companies.
Specific procedures include interaction among peers and between leaders and members, cohesion and teamwork, “corruption,” group decision making, conformity, persuasion, leadership, communication, cooperation, competition, and integrator and interferon relations (Loss, 2011). Google Google was founded in 1 998 and is located in California. It is a search engine where you can find out literally any information from “how tot’s” and “what happened”. Google employees 42, 1 62 people and has a job growth of 20. 1 %, as of 2014(Google. Com). It has topped the list marking its eighth appearance ND fifth time as number one. Time Inc. , 2014). Some motivation have seen on Google Inc. Employees receive $1 2,000 college tuition reimbursement, training is only 30 hours, and “Google launched Grow, an internal platform that helps employees find courses and jobs, get one-on-one advice and use other development resources at Google. It is a one-stop shop for Google employees to manage their own development within the company” (IIS Great Rated, 2015). Ninety percent of employees, either dyad or triad groups, say they enjoy their colleagues and find the workplace o be fun and equal (US Great Rated, 2015).
One employee unnamed says, “l have never worked any place like this. It feels like working at a cross been Harvard, Hogwash’s and NASA The atmosphere and culture is truly unique and unlike anything I’ve ever experienced elsewhere”. One of the benefits that would make any employee comfortable is $50,891 , the average salary and additional cash compensation for Associate Account Strategist, BAA Program (US). $136,268 is the average salary and additional cash compensation for Software Engineer Ill (US Great Rated, 2015). Google pays 0% for health care coverage Of its employees and their dependents. US Great Rated, 2015). I think Woman’s theory works with Google since he did announce it in our textbook. Another unnamed employee says, “I’ve been in this company for several years and I’m still often truly amazed by its culture. Engineers are free to speak up against bad decisions and the senior management (and even CEO) are willing to take it seriously and discuss solutions”. Facts Research Systems Facts is a multinational financial data and software company that provides financial information and analytic software for investment refashions (Facts, 2015).
Their main headquarters is located in Connecticut where Phillip Hadley (CEO) founded it back in 1978. I have decided to do a company smack dab in the middle to find out what is it that makes them number 50. We learned about Great Places to Work with Goggles information and they have named Facts one of the twenty Great Work Places in technology for the first time in 2014. Let us see why. The company highlights of 2014 for Facts is that there are 6,600 employees in eighteen countries to collaborate on a global scale to produce, sell, and purport new products (Facts, 2015).
Some of the elements I have found for employee motivation is that Facts pays 100% of healthcare costs, has onsite fitness centers for employee cohesion, and pays for offside gym memberships. They offer job sharing, 27% of the employees are women. Of all the employees, 94% of them say they have a lot of responsibility and that management trust them enough to follow through without micromanaging them (US Great Rated, 2015). Facts also has a college reimbursement of $5,250, not as much as Google, but they do offer it. An unknown employee tastes, ‘ ‘The company loves to help its employees grow and promote from within”.
One big element that not a lot of companies go through is a devastating natural disaster. Hurricane Sandy hit in October of 2012 and did damage to Facts, as well as the homes of its employees. Facts helped with temporary housing and needs until everyone was back on their feet (US Great Rated, 2015). I think that Facts falls into the theory of exchange in groups only because the idea that groups offer certain rewards for membership, based upon exchange among group leader(s), members, and potential members (Coos, 2011).
Cooley While in high school, I saw an advertisement for Cooley Law School. Something told me that this school was where I was to end up. It never happened and I could kick myself for not following through. Cooley was founded in 1 920 by Arthur Cooley and Louis Crowley with the headquarters in California. Cooley’s’ objective is to help decipher legal issues for innovators, entrepreneurs, investors, financial institutions and established companies (US Great Rated, 2015). The one I would have attended is in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Cooley has roughly 1 680 employees with 56% of them women.
Joe Convoy (CEO) held a meeting and stated that “In order to succeed we need to be honest, focused, flexible, passionate, brave, and most Of all Cooley (Cooley, n. D. ). Those words came to embody who they are at that firm. While researching the companies that were listed on Fortunes list of top 1 00 companies that were voted best to work for only had a few differences. Differences like the college reimbursement being $3000, 80% company-paid health coverage for employees, 65% company-paid health coverage for dependents 20 hours weekly hours at which part-timers receive health care overage (US Great Rated, 2015).
An unknown employee states, “Cooley truly cares about its employees and treats them with respect. They recognize that employees have things that may be happening in their personal life (such as personal or family illness, child care, etc. ) and are willing to work with that individual to make sure they get the support they need. Not only does the firm work with you, but your co-workers are right there when you need them”. Again think that this company follows George Woman’s theory’ of exchange in groups only because a law firm has to work together but individually so the company can succeed.
Since 1998, Fortune has issued a rundown of organizations accepted to be the “100 Best Companies to Work For”. The business sector is getting stronger, so when they acquire the best in American title occupations they search for specific components. We explored what successful companies at the top, in the middle, at the bottom of the list. They all seem to have a lot of things in common as all types of health benefits, contributions, college reimbursements and believe all three fell into George Woman’s theory of exchange.
