An individual with chronic illness can be healthy. This is quite a positive thought since most of those who suffer from chronic illness can be able to carry on well with their duties like any other person.
The well being of an individual living with chronic illness can be facilitated by eating well balanced food and those which are recommended by the doctor to cope with the disease condition.
Also exercising regularly is very will help you to improve the physical status of your body. Exercises make one to be active and consequently forget of his or her disease.
Therefore according to my thoughts an individual suffering from chronic illness can be healthy since he or she can carry out most of the tasks.
Exercise as a therapy to those individual living with chronic illness helps them to thrive well. Exercise basically improves strength and energy level of a patient.
Also, one should endure that his or her daily activities are running well which is quite evidenced in most people suffering from chronic illness who are able to manage their condition.
By developing a healthy lifestyle individual with chronic illness can live healthy depending on the life style one is able to adopt as a result of illness.
Some of individuals with chronic illness emerge as a result of old age. Some of these illnesses include: Diabetes, blood pressure and so on. These old people tend to be healthy despite of their disease condition since their conditions arise as a result of shut down of some functional organs such as kidney in case of diabetes.
A person suffering from chronic illness can be considered healthy. This is basically facilitated by positive action that specific individual takes towards maintenance of his or her health throughout the course of disease condition. When one understands the state of his or her disease conditions he or she can be able to live healthy by ensuring that the necessary care and precautions required to maintain the condition are taken into consideration in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Good health to such individuals is necessary and it should be adhered to in order to prevent the sick person from acquiring other opportunistic infection which can arise as a result of the chronic illness ruining the health of an individual.
Thoughts that an individuals suffering from chronic illness are healthy depends on their physical mental or their social well being (Starfield, 1992).
Physically, those individuals suffering from chronic illness, physical fitness of their body is healthy which is mainly enhanced through regular exercising, eating of proper diet and nutrition recommended by the physician and resting properly in order to ensure normal functioning of their body is maintained.
Through maintaining their mental status, individuals suffering from chronic illness can be regarded to as healthy since they are emotionally and psychologically functioning well.
Mentally, mental status of these individuals can be affected by cultural differences and subjective assessment. If individuals suffering from chronic illness maintain these and ensure that they do not affect them in any way, they can stay in good mental health which greatly contributes to the good health of an individual (Starfield, 1992).
Chronic illness is basically long term illness and it prevails for a long time which means that a person has to adjust to the demands of the illness and to therapy that one need to undergo in order to maintain the condition since it can not be treated. Chronic illness can change the way a person lives and relates to one another. Individuals suffering from chronic illness most of the time are healthy since their physical, mental and social aspects of their bodies are functioning properly.
In a simple definition, chronic illness refers to long term illness which prevails for a long time. It means that a person suffering from it needs to adjust in order to meet the demand of the illness and the therapies used to maintain the condition. Chronic illness at time can change the entire life of individual which includes changing the lifestyle and relationship with others.
Chronic illness begins gradually, it’s rare for one to get completely healed from it and it can persist for life time.
Therefore chronic illness refers to a group of health conditions which prevails for along time.
On the other hand, according to world health organization health can simply be defied as a state of complete physical social and mental well being but it does not necessary mean the absence of a disease condition or infirmity. Therefore, an individual can be termed to be healthy even when ill if only all his or her physical, mental and social aspects are functioning well.
Health is a resource for everyday life, not the objective of living.
Health can be referred to as positive concept emphasizing social and personal resources as well as physical capacities.
Being aware of the two definitions, one can come up with thoughts that an individual suffering from chronic illness can be healthy (Margaret, Alvita, 2002).
With the meaning of health ruling out disease condition an individual with chronic illness can be healthy through maintenance of his or her social, physical and mental well being. In order to maintain the well being of thee three states, and individual suffering from chronic illness need to meet the demands of the illness. Some of them include:
– Understand the condition
– Be aware of treatment and therapy of your disease condition.
– Have trust in your physician and those who are helping you to cope with the disease condition.
– Come up with ways of controlling symptoms when they arise
– Maintain your social relationships when faced with an uncertain medical future or in case the symptoms arise
– Avoid being socially isolated
In case one meets these demands he or she can live a healthy life despite of his or her disease condition.
Good health, whether in the case of a disease condition or not can be determined by human biology, environment lifestyle and healthcare- services one receives.
Therefore, one can come up with an argument that health is maintained and improved not only through advancement and application of health science but also through the efforts and intelligent lifestyle choices of individual. Therefore a chronically ill person needs to adopt to al those aspects in order for him or her to be considered healthy.
Definitions of chronic illness and health greatly relate to one another and they can basically help an individual to understand that it’s not necessary for an individual suffering from chronic illness is unhealthy because of his or her disease condition.
Reflecting our views on definition of health which does not mean the total absence of disease condition, if well maintained not to cause harm to his or her physical, mental or social well being is healthy since his or her states is well maintained (Morrof, Larsen, 2002).
Since chronic illness refers to a group of health conditions, and health does not merely mean the absence of disease condition or infirmity the saying that patients suffering fro chronic illness are healthy can be true since through acceptance of their health they can be able to maintain all those aspects and maintain the disease in such a way that it would not cause any of the aspects of being healthy to fail.
Therefore, with the knowledge of health and understanding of chronic illness one is going through, a healthy lifestyle can be achieved which enables the patient not to view him or her self as someone who is sick but as a healthy individual. First, for one to cope with chronic illness one must understand the nature of the illness since by knowing your condition it can help one to take a different approach of the illness.
Another thing is that one should learn how to manage pain this can be done depending on one’s attitude towards the illness, medication and therapies that one undergoes.
Proper eating is another factor that should be considered in case of chronic illness. This is because some chronic illness does not require some specific food while other types of foods are recommended.
Exercise is another therapy that can help one living with chronic illness to thrive well. Exercise basically improves strength and energy level of the patient. Also one should ensure that his or her daily activities are running well (Helm, 2003).
In conclusion, one should understand chronic illness and the symptoms which are manifested in the illness so as to determine how to maintain the condition in order to maintain a healthy living.
When someone is going through a chronic disease, it’s necessary to adapt to a healthy lifestyle in order to keep off opportunistic infections which can collapse one’s mental, physical or social well being.
Therefore, through acceptance and maintenance of the disease one can stay healthy despite of the disease condition.
