I then began to tell her what have learned and stuff, mainly from Dry. Wheeler’s class and my theology class. She said she was confused about God and what he wants from her in her life, and she asked me what she needs to do to grow, because I think she doubted God. Felt very uncomfortable, but God was putting me in this situation for a reason. But I began to tell her that we have to make God first in our lives and that is how we grow. We begin studying and reading the word, and spending time in prayer.
I said we have to o this every day, it is very easy to get side tracked with life but we have to commit and put God first in our lives. She was very thankful and I think she respected Liberty even more than she did before. I greatly enjoyed this because I was put in an environment where you have to converse with people because I was serving them dinner. It was a lot easier than just walking up to someone and talk about God. Community service is a great way to spread the word of God and evangelize to people. Also because you are around friends and they can always assist you.
For the encounter itself I believe it went very well, and maybe I could have been more prepared but I believed I stated a valid point to her. Second Encounter My second encounter was a much more intense and nerve-racking experience. On Saturday April seventh, me and a couple guys from my hall went to go and evangelize at the local Lynchburg mall. There were six of us and we were spilt into two, my friend David and I were partners, and our goal was to go up to someone and talk to them about life, and eventually Christ. We talked to three different people but our last encounter was the most interesting
We went up to this lady about in her mid-ass’s, and asked if we could sit down and talk with her. She was hesitant at first but she let us sit down, we began talking about life and where she was from, the weather and other miscellaneous stuff. Then we began talking about Easter, because Easter was the next day and we asked if she went to church, and she was Roman Catholic. David and I were unfamiliar with Catholics and what they believe, we knew they were different and we began asking what Roman-Catholics due, and it blew my mind how they pray to Mary and other people if they lose stuff.
She was very strong in her belief even though my friend and did not believe that at all. We showed our point of view, but it didn’t matter, her mind was set. This was fascinating to me and helped me realize am not as strong as a Christian as I would have liked. I need to get better and stronger because I don’t even know that much at all even though thought did. But overall this was a great experience that I want to do again. Next week we might go up to Ranked to evangelize there, or somewhere where the Christian community is not as big. This was a tremendous experience that will not forget.
