Throughout, my life has been overshadowed with caring for people and a healthy living. Ever since I was a child my mother always advised me of the importance of health and caring for my younger sister.
Due to my nature of caring for people and the satisfaction of being able to help those in need, has made me believe everyone deserves the best quality of life possible and that being able to complete everyday tasks is a part of this. I want a career in psychology as I believe that implementing strategies to overcome difficulties and suggesting skills to adapt in different environments can have a positive impact on someone’s life. I understand that being a psychologist can be emotionally and mentally demanding, but I am prepared to take part in it through your help and support.I want the opportunity to make a difference by helping people gain independence and increase in confidence. I want to make a change through helping people reach their goals and succeed. My goal is to become a sport and exercise psychologist.
As the only boy in the family with a single mother, older sister and younger sister,I am charmed enough to have had the support when I needed it and more importantly to have been able to give support to others who have needed it when they were going through hard times. It’s something which has always given me great pleasure to be there for someone who needs me to help, listen, advice, and suggest ways of solving problems and positive action, encourage, teach and even to engage in activities to motivate them. I have also gained experience working with middle aged/ elderly people. For the past 2 years I have been employed part time in catering and hospitality at a football stadium , where a lot of ex professionals come eat dinner some even with severe mental health problems. Through this I have catered for different people from different backgrounds and built relationships with some regular clients. Some of them with dementia and difficult to communicate with, but i overcame that. This has been a challenging but rewarding experience for me.The course I am currently studying; I have to do a lot of independent research for the different tasks that I have to complete.
I always meet deadlines which show my dedication to the course. Some of the units I have done in BTEC Sport include Anatomy and physiology. Doing Psychology and Sociology has helped me gain an understanding of people, both physically and psychological level. I enjoy learning how people interact with one another individually and also in wider society such as taking part in sport.I have many hobbies such as table tennis, cooking, reading, and going gym but the one hobby that comes on top is football. Football brings people together. All my life I’ve been playing football, from primary to secondary and even managing to progress to first team.
Football was the first sport I ever played. Football has also provided me with a lot of memories that I will never forget, one memory was winning the west midlands cup, it was that big of a deal that it was in the papers, I was so good that I felt like nothing could stop me, until I became injured, I lost all hope and dedication until I met a psychotherapist who then gave me a clear understanding of things, that there’s more to life. Ever since then that’s when I felt to help others, what he did for me is what I want to do to others. I am a dedicated, understanding and ambitious student who has a willingness to learn and further my studies with any support I can get. I am keen to continue improving on my abilities to make an impact by starting and completing my University Degree.
I believe that with the BTEC in Sport course that I am doing, I one day will be a great sport and exercise psychologist. I am aware that a degree is not a fast-track pass to my dream career. However, it is a qualification and an important step towards achieving my goal of becoming a Psychologist.
